As a realtor of 10 years, Tyler Dawe knows the importance that social media has today – especially when using it for building his brand, promoting listings and generating leads. With over 1,000 combined followers and climbing, Tyler has been successfully blowing up his social media and building his brand online to promote his business.

Tyler began using social media for business in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2018 that he really began using and investing in all available platforms online, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

He first began with scheduling daily static posts, and moved up to promoting and boosting his content. It was in 2019 that Tyler decided to add a videographer to his team, and ever since, his increase in reach and engagement has blown up.

After finding great success in using video for his social media platforms, he aims to encourage all Agents to utilize video on their own pages.

“Research shows that in the next five years, video will compile 90% of the content out there. You should be focusing on your video campaigns as they’re more memorable and generate much more engagement. Video, video, video! And above all, be consistent – that’s always been my struggle.”

For those who are still unsure about how to kick off their social media platforms, or just to improve their social media game, Tyler offers 5 more of his top tips on helping build your brand online.

  1. Don’t be afraid to use your phone! Smartphones are an amazing way to get started integrating your brand into social media.

You don’t need a professional photographer or videographer with expensive equipment to create quality content. Start off by using your phone! It is an amazing way to get started building your online profiles and creating content that is both convenient and informative.

  1. Be you! Potential clients want to know who you are, it builds trust.

“Shooting short videos has been integral to our social media success. In particular, personal vlogs that feature my family (especially my 2 year old son) resonate with our followers. This year, I have zeroed in on being “fiercely local” and our video focus has centered on local destinations, restaurants and businesses. The key is to be real with your audience. Don’t be afraid to get personal, it’s all about being relatable!

  1. Be creative and don’t listen to all the “No’s” in your head.

Channeling your inner creativity can help build your brand and up your game on social media. Don’t dismiss any of your ideas when it comes to marketing your business on social! There is no failing, just a matter of finding something that works best for your channels to brand your business and appeal to your potential clients.

  1. Copy what you like – if you’ve seen someone else do it and it resonated with you, then go for it and make it your own!

There’s no harm in seeing what others are doing with their pages. Take some of their good ideas and make them your own. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new concepts – you might find them successful.

  1. Don’t compare yourself to others.

“Comparing yourself to everyone else will just make you feel depleted and unmotivated. Get started, move at your own pace and your following will come.

One of the biggest bonuses of building your online brand? Social media is a great way to stay in contact with your clients and create multiple touchpoints throughout the year! It’s always a win-win.
